About the Role
The Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine (PACCSM) at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center is seeking NIH scientists, physicians and physician scientists at the level of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor, tenured, in the tenure stream and outside the tenure stream. PACCSM is seeking established investigators with proven track record in extramural NIH funding and mentoring of junior investigators. Research Areas
PACCSM supports active basic and clinical research programs in asthma, COPD, cystic fibrosis, sleep disorders, ILD, and ARDS/ALI, and fellowship training at major teaching hospitals, UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, the Oakland VA Medical Center, and UPMC Shadyside Hospital.
Requirements by Rank
- Assistant Professor (non-tenure or tenure-stream): three or more years of experience in related scientific research; have obtained or demonstrate the ability to obtain external research funding; have disseminated results through peer-reviewed publications and other scientific forums; have significant teaching experience; and demonstrate the capacity for sustained career development, promotion, and tenure.
- Associate Professor (non-tenure, tenure-stream, tenured): five or more years of experience in related scientific research; have independent, external research funding and a substantial record of peer-reviewed publications; have significant teaching experience; and demonstrate the capacity for sustained, impactful, and independent scholarly contributions and leadership.
- Professor (non-tenure, tenure-stream, tenured): served five to seven years as Associate Professor; recognition of the attainment of authoritative knowledge and reputation in a recognized field of learning and the achievement of effective teaching skills; have attained superior stature in their field through scholarship, professional practice, and leadership in professional and learned organizations.
Qualifications
- MD/DO or equivalent degree
- Board certified in pulmonary disease and critical care medicine
- Eligible for licensure in Pennsylvania
- Research interest in Pulmonary, Allergy, Sleep and Critical Care Medicine
