About the role

The successful candidate will be part of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh, engaging in statistical collaborations with both clinical and basic science investigators.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clinical and research investigators on study design, analysis, and interpretation of psychiatric research.
  • Publish collaborative and methodological research in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at scientific meetings.
  • Contribute to teaching, mentoring, and service activities consistent with rank and departmental needs.

Requirements

  • PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, or related areas such as Quantitative Psychology, Statistical Genetics, and Bioinformatics.
  • Demonstrated interest in research, e.g., as shown through both individual and collaborative peer-reviewed publications, including original research and review articles.
  • The quality of the journals themselves and the position of authorship will be considered.
  • Success in developing and submitting collaborative grant applications to external funding sources. Funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is a priority in our Department.
  • Demonstrated research and collaborative skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, given the demands of working with multiple investigators.
  • Flexibility and the ability to work in a rapidly changing/growing educational institution.
  • Experience in collaborative research that reflects the ability to work on multiple projects with multiple collaborators at the same time and with tight deadlines.
  • Experience in developing tutorial and consultation resources that enhance the ability of collaborators to analyze data and to write effective manuscripts and funding applications, e.g., primers on statistical topics and new methods relevant to specific areas of scientific work.
  • Experience in a supervisory role, e.g., supervision of masters-level statisticians (preferred but not required).
