About the role

The Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics along with the Hillman Cancer Center at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine invites applications for an Associate Professor in the tenure stream position available immediately. We seek a highly motivated and innovative investigator to develop and lead an independent research program in viral oncology and cancer biology.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and conducting innovative research studies
  • Generating, analyzing, and interpreting complex molecular, cellular, genomic, and epigenetic datasets
  • Disseminating findings through publications in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and presentations at national and international scientific meetings
  • Establishing and maintaining an externally funded research program
  • Mentoring trainees and junior investigators
  • Contributing to the academic and research missions of the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics and UPMC Hillman Cancer Center

Requirements

  • Demonstrated record of scientific excellence and innovation
  • Expertise in modern molecular and cellular biology approaches
  • Experience utilizing advanced methodologies such as CRISPR-based functional genomics, genomic and epigenomic analyses, RNA biology, and related technologies

Qualifications

  • PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree in Microbiology and Immunology, Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, or a closely related field

Skills

  • Strong publication record
  • Evidence of the ability to maintain a nationally recognized research program with significant impact on cancer research and translational science

Pay

Salary is commensurate with experience.
