About the role

The Auto Glass Technician plays a crucial role at Safelite, focusing on vehicle glass repair and replacement services. This position requires a combination of technical skills and excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide all vehicle glass repair and replacement services at Safelite Shops and Mobile Glass Shops.
  • Clean customer vehicles after every job.
  • Recalibrate automotive safety systems, including troubleshooting and diagnostic testing.
  • Proficiently operate Safelite’s tools and technologies, such as True Seal®, Ezi-Wire™, Glass Table System (GTS), chemicals, work order and customer administration systems, and MRM technology.
  • Safely operate company and customer vehicles throughout the workday.
  • Communicate with all scheduled customers in-person, via text, and on the phone; promote and sell Safelite promotional items and services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and any other required licenses to operate a company vehicle.
  • Required Safelite SafeTech™ certification.

Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma or GED/Equivalent.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Standing for extended periods, working in tight spaces, bending, twisting, and operating various hand and power tools safely.
  • Operating a motor vehicle in compliance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Professionalism and passion for providing outstanding customer service and exceeding customer expectations.
  • Working with chemicals (including flammable chemicals) as applicable per the “Safelite Way of Fitting”.
  • Ability to work scheduled days with flexibility on start and end times to accommodate customer needs.
  • Proficiency in using computerized diagnostic tools for recalibrations and troubleshooting.
  • Reading, writing, and interpreting the English language and technical directions.
  • Communicating orally and written via phone and computer or other electronic means.
  • Maintaining a professional appearance and adhering to Company uniform and PPE policies.
  • Willingness and ability to maintain stable performance under professional or personal pressure and opposition.

  • Potential to be promoted in the first year.
  • Starting pay of $28/hour as a Senior Tech and $30.50/hour as a Master Tech.
