About the role

The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Northern Region Highways & Aviation, Western District seeks an Equipment Operator Journey 2 to support construction and road maintenance activities in Nome, AK.

Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy machinery to support construction and road maintenance activities.
  • Perform routine inspections and handle basic maintenance tasks.
  • Work closely with your team to complete projects safely and efficiently.
  • Adapt to changing conditions and work independently and as part of a crew in a rural environment.

Requirements

  • A valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Tanker and Air Brake endorsements.
  • Experience operating heavy machinery.
  • Ability to work in a rural, outdoor environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of related experience.
  • Completion of a vocational or technical program in equipment operation.

Skills

  • Proficient in operating heavy machinery.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong safety awareness and adherence to company policies.
