Engineer/Computer Systems Analyst

About the role

This position supports the reliable operations of the bulk electric system for Southern Company Services Transmission’s Energy Management Systems (EMS). Key responsibilities include implementing, executing, and improving operational processes, providing day-to-day operational support, and 24x7 emergency support for OSI Monarch SCADA systems and other tools.

Responsibilities

• Support Windows PC deployments and troubleshoot PC issues
• Recommend process and technology updates for the team and organization
• Provide Windows scripting and PowerShell solutions
• Support Virtualized Infrastructure for Windows 10/11, RHEL 8, Windows Server, and a future VDI implementation
• Support department projects and initiatives

Requirements

• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Windows computer systems and application support
• Proficient with Microsoft Windows desktop administration
• Proficient with Hardware, Software, and Network troubleshooting
• Proficient with basic desktop component hardware and their replacement
• Moderate experience with Microsoft Windows Imaging, including Microsoft Deployment Image Servicing and Management Tool, Deployment Toolkit, Assessment and Deployment Kit
• Experience with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) / Microsoft Endpoint Manager
• Experience with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure support and deployment
• Moderate Windows shell scripting & PowerShell programming skills
• Understanding of physical/virtual servers and workstation maintenance
• Understanding of computer network concepts

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) and Insider Threat Program (ITP) security clearance
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Customer-focused attitude and the desire to learn about the Transmission core business
• Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to handle multiple tasks with competing priorities and delegate
• Ability to build and maintain relationships within a team, with customer organizations, and multiple vendors
