Engineer/Computer Systems Analyst

About the role

This position supports the reliable operations of the bulk electric system for Southern Company Services Transmission’s Energy Management Systems (EMS). Key responsibilities include implementing, executing, and improving operational processes, providing day-to-day operational support, and 24x7 emergency support for the OSI Monarch SCADA systems and other tools.

Responsibilities

• Supports Windows PC deployments and troubleshoots PC issues
• Provides 24x7 emergency support for OSI Monarch SCADA systems
• Supports Virtualized Infrastructure for Windows 10/11, RHEL 8, Windows Server, and future VDI implementation
• Supports department projects and initiatives
• Handles multiple tasks with competing priorities and delegates effectively
• Builds and maintains relationships within teams, with customer organizations, and multiple vendors

Requirements

• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Windows computer systems and application support
• Proficient with Microsoft Windows desktop administration
• Proficient with Hardware, Software, and Network troubleshooting
• Proficient with basic desktop component hardware and their replacement
• Moderate experience with Microsoft Windows Imaging, SCCM/Microsoft Endpoint Manager, and virtualization technologies
• Moderate Windows shell scripting & PowerShell programming skills
• Understanding of physical/virtual servers and workstation maintenance
• Understanding of computer network concepts
• Ability to obtain CIP and ITP security clearances
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Customer-focused attitude and willingness to be on call 24x7
• Willingness to travel up to 15%

Qualifications

• Education: Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience
• Experience: Supporting and troubleshooting computer systems, understanding of electric utility transmission operations
