Computer Engineer/Analyst
About the Role
NDI Engineering Company is seeking candidates with 2–5 years of experience in Computer Engineering to join a high-energy team of software and system developers delivering new and updated systems to the Navy. The role involves developing and maintaining an integrated software system aligned with Navy architecture, requirements, objectives, and policies for Naval Systems.
Responsibilities
- Systems Engineering Support Services
- Assist in the development and/or modification of ship design specifications and review of user system specifications.
- Provide engineering support for network products produced for labs, proof-of-concept demonstrations, and fielded shipboard systems.
- Participate in initial concept exploration, requirements definition, engineering development, qualification testing, lab and/or shipboard integration, and troubleshooting.
- Systems Software Testing Services
- Perform software testing, software installs, and configuration.
- Travel required for ship software installs and testing.
- Obtain Cyber Security Workforce Certification (must be able to obtain after being hired).
- Conduct system troubleshooting.
- Demonstrate knowledge of networks and software configuration management (CM).
- Life Cycle System Support
- Participate in System Program Reviews, Technical Reviews, Technical Exchange Meetings, Engineering Team Meetings, and other technical and programmatic forums.
- Assist in developing user manuals, technical descriptions, training materials, and fact sheets for mission-critical Data Networks.
- Contribute to system engineering plan documents, requirements documents, test procedures and plans, test reports, and related technical documentation for lab, test site, and shipboard applicability.
- Help assess potential cost, schedule, and performance impacts associated with proposed hardware and software changes.
- Software Design, Development, and Testing
- Develop, modify, enhance, and test software for Test Sites and Shipboard following software assurance best practices.
- Analyze information to determine, recommend, and plan new applications or modifications for security compliance.
- Capture security controls during the requirements phase to integrate security, identify key objectives, and maximize software security while minimizing disruptions.
- Apply coding and testing standards, security testing tools, and conduct code reviews.
- Document secure code practices.
- Conduct trial runs of programs and applications to ensure correctness.
- Collaborate with systems analysts, engineers, programmers, and others to design applications and gather project details.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems from an accredited institution.
- 2–5 years of computer engineering experience in a development and test environment.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain an active DOD security clearance.
Qualifications
- CompTIA Security+ or Secure C++ certification is highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of DOD/DON cybersecurity policies and processes, particularly as they relate to shipboard software control systems, is highly desirable.
