Engine Shop Supervisor 1
About the role
HOLT CAT in Irving, Texas is looking for an Engine Rebuild Shop Supervisor. This position is responsible for scheduling and prioritizing all work performed in the assigned area of responsibility; providing quotes for jobs and work order review for customer billing; customer communications; shop safety practices and compliance with shop operating policies.
Responsibilities
- Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission
- Establishes and mutually agrees upon and communicate job expectations to internal and external customers to ensure customer satisfaction
- Establishes, models, and reinforces safety practices which are consistent with our mission to ensure employee and customer safety
- Provides Service Manager with status reports on all open work orders in an accurate and timely manner
- Reviews monthly service operations branch statement to assess progress on department business goals
- Participates in the selection, development, and evaluation of service department personnel
- Works safely always and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
Requirements
- High school education or GED, or trade school diploma is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, or related field preferred
- Minimum of 5 years industrial engine rebuild service and supervisory experience required
Qualifications
- Knowledge of industrial natural gas and or diesel engines, tooling, including their designs, uses, repair, and rebuilding knowledge
- Caterpillar engine design and repair maintenance repair experience is preferred
- Knowledge of shop safety practices is required
- Ability to identify and define problems/goals, selecting and implementing alternative solution strategies
- Ability to direct, implement, motivate, and evaluate work environment for the purpose of accomplishing specific, targeted business objectives

Supervisory Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; coaching and development; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Work Environment
Regularly works indoors around moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity. Noise level may be loud at times. Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment. Significant time spent in confined spaces and high places.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Occasionally moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina. Ascend/descend with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climb up and down ladders. Be able to safely maneuver and work underneath equipment.
Travel and Schedule
Up to 30% travel required to include overnight travel. Valid driver’s license required.
