About the role
As an Energy Efficiency Technician, you will act as a local on-site program and company representative to residential customers. You will educate power utility customers on Energy Waste Reduction, install basic energy-efficient equipment, and inspect homes for insulation, air sealing, HVAC equipment. You will make recommendations for saving energy and money while working directly with our Utility Client's diverse, multi-lingual customer base.
This position is available in the greater Metro Detroit area. Candidates must live in or within a reasonable commuting distance from their territory. The role is remote with no overnight travel and is not a sales position—no cold calling is required.
Responsibilities
- Be a professional and enjoy customer service.
- Be organized and maintain equipment and company vehicle (good driving record required).
- Climb ladders up to 10’ and lift/carry 50 lbs.
- Conduct installation of basic residential energy efficiency upgrades (training provided).
- Provide technical advice, guidance, and training on installation, adaptation, configuration, or enhancement in accordance with client specifications (training provided).
- Provide input and status updates to program staff regarding project scope, planning, and effectiveness of products.
- Provide technical expertise to identify, analyze, and resolve issues.
- Demonstrate experience or interest and ability to learn about home construction and HVAC equipment to be an effective educator.
- Travel throughout a defined territory.
- Work a variable schedule with a four-day work week (10-hour days).
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 1-3 years of relevant industry experience preferred.
- Comfortable using computers and various software.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associates Degree with relevant industry technical certification/training preferred.
- BPI Certified preferred.
- Clean driving record (company van provided).

Pay
Target compensation: $23.00/hour. Compensation range: $21.10 - $31.70/hour, based on internal equity, market data, skills, and prior relevant experience.
Schedule
Four-day work week, working 10-hour days with a variable schedule.
This is a safety-sensitive position and may include field work (such as work in industrial/commercial locations and customer homes), warehouse work, or driving on behalf of the company. Successful candidates must pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test and maintain a clean driving record.
