As a Solar Technician III at our Sequoia Solar Farm, you will play a key role in maintaining and optimizing solar generation assets, ensuring safe and efficient operations while maximizing plant availability and production.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate, maintain, inspect, and troubleshoot solar facility equipment to support reliable plant performance and maximize energy production.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on photovoltaic (PV) systems, electrical equipment, and balance of plant (BOP) assets.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, and control system issues using schematics, diagnostic tools, SCADA systems, and technical documentation.
  • Support the planning and execution of maintenance activities while ensuring accurate documentation and work order completion within Maximo.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by adhering to safe work practices, participating in hazard assessments, and serving as a safety role model for team members and contractors.
  • Identify equipment risks, recommend corrective actions, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Provide technical guidance, on-the-job training, and support to other technicians while collaborating with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams.

Requirements

  • High School and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience maintaining electrical, solar, industrial, or power generation assets.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills involving electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
  • Strong ability to read, interpret, and apply electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Experience maintaining, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing PV solar equipment, including AC and DC systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, computerized maintenance management systems, and SCADA systems.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, including knowledge of LOTO, electrical safety practices, and hazard mitigation.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to successfully complete required safety training, including First Aid/CPR, confined space, and other site-specific qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting utility-scale solar facilities or renewable energy operations.
  • Additional electrical, instrumentation, or power generation certifications.
  • Knowledge of asset integrity inspections, reliability practices, and continuous improvement methodologies.

Working Conditions

Primarily field-based role working at a solar generation facility. Exposure to outdoor environments and varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and precipitation. Frequent walking, standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, and use of hand and power tools. Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. May require occasional travel to support other Enbridge-operated facilities. Participation in an on-call rotation and availability to respond to emergency or unplanned maintenance events. Flexible work hours may be required to support operational and maintenance needs.

Physical and Mental Requirements

Physical requirements include grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 50 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time. Mental requirements include the ability to understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area.

Pay

Salary ranges from $34.50 – $42.00 per hour USD for US locations based upon candidate’s experience, skills, and internal equity.
