About the role
This position is located in Reno, Nevada.
Responsibilities
- Answer emergency medical and fire calls for service and dispatch ambulances and fire resources to locations requesting help.
- Process emergency medical and fire related calls using established protocols.
- Give callers instructions to begin patient care and how to safeguard themselves until help arrives on scene.
- Communicate safety concerns involving patients and responders to determine whether or not additional precautions or equipment should be taken.
- Send the closest appropriate response resource to the scene.
- Communicate with other emergency services to ensure efficient coordination of response.
Requirements
- Prior medical or fire experience is preferred.
- All Communications Specialists must have completed or will need to complete an EMT course within 6 months of hire.
- We offer a full academy training to develop the skills and competence to successfully process calls and dispatch resources.
- Must have current American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification.
- Must pass the EMT Entrance Exam (if no prior EMT course completion).
- Must pass the Criticall Exam.
- Must have ability to type a minimum of 35 wpm.
- Must be able to work any 12-hour shift (days, nights, weekends, and holidays).
Qualifications
- Completed or willing to complete an EMT course within 6 months of hire.
- Passing Criticall Exam.
- Passing EMT Entrance Exam (if no prior EMT course completion).

Pay
The pay range for this position is $40,000 - $50,000 annually.
Schedule
The schedule for this position is full-time, with shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
