EMS Dispatcher

About the role

The EMS Dispatcher (SSCII) plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the emergency medical services department. This position requires strong communication skills, the ability to handle stressful situations, and a deep understanding of emergency protocols.

Responsibilities

• Receive and dispatch emergency calls from the public and other agencies.
• Communicate with patients, family members, and healthcare providers to gather necessary information and provide guidance during emergencies.
• Coordinate with other emergency response teams to ensure timely and appropriate patient care.
• Monitor and maintain accurate records of all dispatch activities.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and department policies.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• At least 2 years of experience in emergency call handling or related field.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Proficiency in using dispatch software and communication equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Medical Services or a related field preferred.
• Current certification in CPR and First Aid.
• Experience with 911 dispatch systems.
