About the role
The EMS Dispatcher (SSCII) plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the emergency medical services department. This position requires strong communication skills, the ability to handle stressful situations, and a deep understanding of emergency protocols.
Responsibilities
- Receive and dispatch emergency calls from the public and other agencies.
- Communicate with patients, family members, and healthcare providers to gather necessary information and provide guidance during emergencies.
- Coordinate with other emergency response teams to ensure timely and appropriate patient care.
- Monitor and maintain accurate records of all dispatch activities.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and department policies.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- At least 2 years of experience in emergency call handling or related field.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Proficiency in using dispatch software and communication equipment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Medical Services or a related field preferred.
- Current certification in CPR and First Aid.
- Experience with 911 dispatch systems.
