EMS Dispatcher

About the role

The EMS Dispatcher position within Department 70506 Floyd EMS - Administration: Ground Transport is responsible for managing and dispatching emergency medical services.

Responsibilities

• Receive and prioritize incoming calls for emergency medical services
• Assign appropriate ambulance units and personnel based on patient needs and location
• Communicate effectively with patients, family members, and other healthcare providers to gather necessary information
• Ensure timely and accurate documentation of all dispatch activities
• Respond to emergencies and manage critical situations according to established protocols
• Coordinate with other departments and agencies as needed to provide comprehensive care

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license
• Current EMT-Basic certification or higher
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends

Qualifications

• Experience in emergency medical services is preferred
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
• Proficiency in computer systems and software applications

• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to remain calm and handle stressful situations
• Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping
• Knowledge of local emergency response procedures

Pay

Base compensation listed within the listed pay range based on factors such as qualifications, skills, relevant experience, and/or training. Premium pay such as shift, on call, and more based on a teammate's job. Opportunity for annual increases based on performance.
