About the role

The Bureau of EMS is seeking a professional to support the high-quality EMS system by interacting with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate professionally with EMS personnel, administrators, training entities, healthcare partners, and the public.
  • Represent the Bureau in a courteous, consistent, and service-oriented manner.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Missouri EMS statutes and regulations, Bureau policies and procedures, and NREMT requirements.
  • Review and process EMS personnel licensure applications, verifying background check results, certification status, and continuing education documentation.
  • Conduct routine inspections of EMS agencies and training entities, both onsite and virtually, to assess compliance with applicable laws and rules.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and complete documentation of inspections, licensing actions, and correspondence within the LicenseManagement System, Elite database, and other Bureau systems.
  • Prepare detailed written reports, correspondence, and recommendations related to inspections, licensure activities, and compliance findings.
  • Provide technical assistance, guidance, and education to EMS agencies and personnel regarding compliance with Missouri EMS laws, rules, licensure requirements, and operational standards.
  • Monitor and track corrective actions following inspections, ensuring identified deficiencies are addressed within required timeframes.
  • Collaborate with internal staff and partner agencies on licensure, compliance, and program initiatives to support statewide EMS system quality and consistency.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of all incoming and outgoing EMS-related correspondence and documentation.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information in accordance with state and federal requirements.
  • Perform additional duties and special assignments as directed by the Bureau Chief.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 0-1 year of relevant experience (substitutions may be allowed).
  • Current Missouri Paramedic license (preferred); or current Missouri Advanced EMT (AEMT) or EMT license.
  • A valid Missouri driver’s license, or equivalent license from another state.
  • An acceptable driving record that meets the standards developed by the Missouri Department of Public Safety (DPS) and DHSS policies to operate vehicles.
  • A minimum of three (3) years active EMS field experience.
  • Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, manage assigned workload in a timely and reliable manner, and consistently adhere to assigned work schedules and hours.

Skills

  • Proficiency in communication and stakeholder engagement.
  • Knowledge of Missouri EMS statutes, regulations, and NREMT requirements.
  • Experience in EMS licensure processing and inspection.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to provide technical assistance and guidance.
  • Effective monitoring and tracking of corrective actions.
  • Collaborative problem-solving skills.

Pay

The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.

Schedule

This position will be Telecommuter / Remote / Work from Home (when not inspecting facilities within Missouri).
