Employment Navigator - Resettlement

About the role

Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI) seeks an Employment Navigator to support employment services for Afghan evacuees and other refugee populations through our Refugee and Immigrant Services programs in Des Moines. Multilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Assists newly arrived refugees and other qualified immigrants to attain self-sufficiency through employment by guiding them through employment preparation, coordinating job placements, and other career advancement services.
• Conduct intake, assessment and provide program orientation to clients eligible for employment services.
• Develop comprehensive employment plans and budget strategies for each employable adult.
• Provide job readiness and job search coaching and connect clients with job opportunities.
• Develop plans to overcome barriers to obtaining and maintaining employment throughout the service period.
• Maintains written documentation of services and ensures employment services are delivered within the required timeframes and in accordance or organizational and contractual policies.
• Maintains refugee information systems, track assessments and progress.
• Facilitates workshops and work readiness courses, schedules workshops and tracks attendance.
• Maintains and builds relationships with community partners, educational organizations and employers.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in health or human service related field or one to two years relevant professional experience in workforce development/employment services field.
• Linguistic appropriate skills to meet the needs of the clients are desired but not required.

Pay

Starting pay for this position is $22.00/hr.
