About the role

Join The Law Firm That Fights For Employees
At Spitz, The Employee’s Law Firm, we do more than practice employment law—we stand up for people during some of the hardest moments of their lives. Employees come to us after being harassed, discriminated against, retaliated against, underpaid, or wrongfully fired. We help them fight back.
This is not a place where young attorneys spend years buried in document review waiting for an opportunity. From the beginning, you will work directly with clients, develop a strategy, take depositions, negotiate cases, and build litigation skills that many attorneys never get to develop.

Responsibilities

  • Represent employees in claims involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, FMLA interference, wage and overtime violations, and other workplace disputes.
  • Meet with clients to understand their facts, evaluate potential claims, and explain the legal process in a clear and practical way.
  • Draft and prepare EEOC charges, state agency charges, notice letters, demand letters, pleadings, discovery, and other litigation documents.
  • Develop a case strategy with supervising attorneys and team members.
  • Communicate with clients regularly and keep cases moving forward efficiently.
  • Work with EEOC and state agency investigators to provide evidence, respond to inquiries, and advocate for clients during the administrative process.
  • Participate in settlement negotiations, mediations, and other efforts to resolve cases.
  • Assist with litigation tasks, including discovery, motion practice, deposition preparation, and case analysis.
  • Cook up with paralegals, intake staff, managers, and attorneys to ensure strong client service and organized case management.
  • Build the litigation, negotiation, and advocacy skills needed to grow as an employee rights attorney.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in Ohio, awaiting Ohio bar results, or eligible for prompt admission.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to listen carefully, show empathy, and build trust with clients facing difficult workplace issues.
  • Excellent organization, time management, and follow-through.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to evaluate facts, risks, and case strategy.
  • Interest in employment law, civil rights, litigation, or employee advocacy.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Willingness to learn litigation skills, including client counseling, negotiation, discovery, depositions, and motion practice.
  • Employment law experience is helpful, but not required.

Pay

$65,000 - $95,000/year
