Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Full-time Night Shift

Position Summary

At Stony Brook Medicine, our Emergency Medical Technicians provide life support services and transport patients in need of emergency hospital care. This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).

Duties

• Assists Emergency Medical Technician (Paramedic) and other medical care providers in the provision of advanced level medical care.
• Captures transport; operates the ambulance; maintains transportation equipment and assures the availability of adequate supplies.
• Coordinates transport; operates the ambulance; maintains transportation equipment and assures the availability of adequate supplies.
• Performs administrative support to the Emergency Services Coordinator as needed.
• Performs other duties as related to the Emergency Medical Service transportation service as assigned.

Qualifications

• New York State Health Department certification as an Emergency Medical Technician and the appropriate New York State driver’s license for the type of vehicle to be operated.
• One or more of the following certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS), Pre Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS), National Registry.
