Emergency Department Patient Access Registrar

About the role

We are seeking an Emergency Department Patient Access Registrar to support patient registration and insurance verification processes.

Responsibilities

• Greet and interview patients or their representatives in person or by phone to gather demographic and insurance information.
• Enter and verify patient data accurately using computer systems.
• Process referrals, pre-authorizations, and insurance benefits to ensure proper billing.
• Collect co-pays and outstanding balances with a compassionate approach.
• Schedule patient appointments and respond to routine and sensitive inquiries.
• Generate reports, analyze data, and maintain knowledge of registration requirements across hospital units.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of customer service experience.
• Ability to work onsite.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Effective time management and basic keyboarding skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in scheduling, authorizations, or healthcare settings.

Physical Environment

Standing for extended periods while using workstations and headsets.

Schedule

The role involves night shifts with rotating weekends and occasional overtime.
