Electrical Installer 2
About the role
Convergint is seeking a full-time Electrical Installer to join their dynamic team. The role involves installing, programming, testing, repairing, and servicing various systems and equipment, including security, fire alarm & life safety, and building automation. This position requires minimal guidance and involves close collaboration with both customers and internal colleagues.
Responsibilities
- Install, program, test, repair, and service a variety of systems and equipment, including security, access control, analog & IP cameras, fire alarm & life safety, and building automation.
- Work closely with customers and internal colleagues to provide technical installation support and training.
- May assist or train less experienced Electrical Installers and refer more complex issues to more experienced colleagues.
- Interpret manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, and repair equipment using knowledge of electronics and standard test instruments and hand tools.
- Provide basic installation assistance as directed by project leads.
- Ensure Convergint Technologies is the customer's first choice for service by acting as 'our customer's best service provider' at all times.
- Take ownership of onsite projects, ensuring safety, quality, and performance.
- Observe and practice Convergint Quality Standards.
- Make suggestions for installation methods to improve profitability and quality.
- Learn and perform tasks of an Electrical Installer III to progress through the trade program.
- Provide feedback to the Job Lead regarding problems and anticipate time associated with an assigned task.
- Act as primary liaison to Project Leads.
Requirements
- Experience installing and wiring access control, network cameras, door hardware, panel installation & wiring, and programming of door and camera additions.
- Solid construction skills and understanding of system plans.
- Strong customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of, and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.
- Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g., works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper), and ability to read blueprints and drawings; solid math skills (for some positions, this may include calculating area, velocity, resistance, voltage, etc.).
- Solid verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Qualifications
- Education: High School/GED or equivalent experience.
- Minimum Experience: 3-5 years in electronic security industry, previous construction experience including some level of electrical or a low voltage background preferred.
- Relevant trade designation (e.g., Electrician) and experience in 1 or more of the following industries: electronic, fire alarm & life safety, and building automation.
- Industry-specific certifications and/or relevant licenses (e.g., Project Management Institute (PMI)) preferred.
Skills

- Knowledge of blueprints, design drawings, and wiring diagrams.
- Basic understanding of electrical and electronic principles.
- Ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
