About the role
Convergint is seeking a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven, and forward-thinking Electronic Security Installer to join their dynamic team. The role involves installing, programming, testing, repairing, and servicing a variety of systems and equipment, including security, fire alarm & life safety, and building automation, with minimal guidance as needed.
Responsibilities
- Install, program, test, repair, and service a variety of systems and equipment, including security, fire alarm & life safety, and building automation.
- Work closely with customers and internal colleagues in providing technical installation support and training.
- Absorb and train less experienced installers, and refer more complex issues to more experienced colleagues.
- Interpret manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, and repair equipment using knowledge of electronics and standard test instruments and hand tools.
- Provide basic installation assistance as directed by project leads.
- Act as "our customer's best service provider" at all times, ensuring Convergint Technologies is the customer's first choice for service.
- Take ownership of onsite projects, ensuring safety, quality, and performance.
- Observe and practice Convergint Quality Standards.
- Make suggestions for installation methods to improve profitability and quality.
- Learn and perform tasks of an Electronics Installer II to progress through the trade program.
- Provide feedback to the Job Lead regarding problems and anticipate time associated with an assigned task.
- Act as the primary liaison to the Project Lead.
Requirements
- Experience installing and wiring access control, network cameras, door hardware, panel installation & wiring, and programming of door and camera additions.
- Strong construction skills and understanding of system plans.
- Understanding of blueprints, design drawings, including wiring and labeling methods, system wiring, wiring methods, cut sheets, wiring schematics, and cable support installation (J-Hook, Raceway, Conduit, Cable Support).
- Familiarity with basic blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation procedures unassisted, may require assistance with more complex specifications.
- Customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of, and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g., works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper), and solid math skills (for some positions, this may include calculating area, velocity, resistance, voltage, etc.).
- Solid verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
