About the role
Convergint is seeking a full-time Electrical Installer who is passionate about providing world-class service to customers, colleagues, and communities. This role involves installing, programming, testing, repairing, and servicing a variety of systems and equipment, including security, fire alarm & life safety, and building automation, with minimal guidance as needed. The Electrical Installer will work closely with customers and internal colleagues to provide technical installation support and training.
Responsibilities
- Install, program, test, repair, and service a variety of systems and equipment, including security, fire alarm & life safety, and building automation, with minimal guidance as needed.
- Work closely with customers and internal colleagues in providing technical installation support and training.
- May assist or train less experienced Electrical Installers.
- Interpret manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, and repair equipment, utilizing knowledge of electronics and using standard test instruments and hand tools.
- Provide basic installation assistance as directed by project lead.
- Act as “our customer’s best service provider” at all times, ensuring Convergint Technologies is the customer’s first choice for service.
- Take ownership of onsite projects, ensuring safety, quality, and performance.
- Observe and practice Convergint Quality Standards.
- Make suggestions for installation methods to improve profitability and quality.
- Learn and perform tasks of an Electrical Installer III to progress through the trade program.
- Provide feedback to the Job-Lead regarding problems and anticipate time associated with an assigned task.
- Act as primary liaison to Project Lead.
Requirements
- Experience installing and wiring access control, network cameras, door hardware, panel installation & wiring, and programming of door and camera additions.
- Solid construction skills and understanding of system plans.
- Strong customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of, and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g., works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper) and ability to read blueprints and drawings; solid math skills (for some positions, this may include calculating area, velocity, resistance, voltage, etc.).
- Solid verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- The Electrical Installer will be responsible for providing basic hand tools as required to perform the daily tasks of the position.
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Education & Experience
- High School/GED or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3-5 years in electronic security industry.
- Previous construction experience including some level of electrical or a low voltage background.
- Relevant trade designation (e.g., Electrician).
- Experience in 1 or more of the following industries: electronic, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation.
- Experience with Axis / Bosch / DMP / Lenel / Software House.
- Industry-specific certifications and/or licenses.
Preferred Experience
- Project Management Institute (PMI).
