Electrical Installer 2

Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven, and forward-thinking Electrical Installer to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with customers and internal colleagues to provide technical installation support and training while contributing to a dynamic, growing environment.

About the Role

As an Electrical Installer, you will install, program, test, repair, and service a variety of systems and equipment—including security, fire alarm, life safety, and building automation—with minimal guidance. You’ll interpret manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, and use standard test instruments and hand tools to ensure high-quality installations. This role offers opportunities to grow within Convergint’s trade program and take ownership of onsite projects, including safety, quality, and performance.

Responsibilities

• Install, program, test, repair, and service systems such as security, fire alarm, life safety, and building automation with minimal supervision.
• Provide technical installation support and training to customers and internal colleagues; assist or train less experienced installers.
• Interpret manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams to repair equipment using knowledge of electronics and standard test instruments.
• Act as the primary liaison to the Project Lead, providing feedback on project challenges and task timelines.
• Take ownership of onsite projects, ensuring adherence to Convergint Quality Standards and safety protocols.
• Suggest installation methods to improve profitability and quality.
• Learn and perform tasks of an Electrical Installer III to progress through the trade program.
• Maintain a strong customer focus, working under pressure to meet customer needs.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in the electronic security industry or related field.
• Experience installing and wiring access control, network cameras, door hardware, panel installation, and programming door/camera additions.
• Solid construction skills and understanding of system plans, blueprints, wiring methods, cut sheets, and cable support installation (J-Hook, Raceway, Conduit).
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, including proficiency with hand and power tools (e.g., drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper).
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and drawings; solid math skills (e.g., calculating area, velocity, resistance, voltage).
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• High School diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Must provide basic hand tools required for daily tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant trade designation (e.g., Electrician).
• Experience in electronic, fire alarm, life safety, or building automation industries.
• Familiarity with Axis, Bosch, DMP, Lenel, or Software House systems.
• Certifications such as Project Management Institute (PMI) or industry-specific credentials.
