Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven, and forward-thinking Electrical Installer to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with customers and internal colleagues to provide technical installation support and training.
About the Role
As an Electrical Installer, you will install, program, test, repair, and service a variety of systems and equipment, which may include security, fire alarm & life safety, and building automation, with minimal guidance. You will be part of a dynamic team that supports growth and development as Convergint expands.
Responsibilities
- Install, program, test, repair, and service systems such as security, fire alarm & life safety, and building automation with minimal supervision.
- Provide technical installation support and training to customers and internal colleagues; assist or train less experienced installers.
- Interpret manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams to repair equipment using standard test instruments and hand tools.
- Provide basic installation assistance as directed by the project lead.
- Act as the customer’s best service provider, ensuring Convergint remains their first choice for service.
- Take ownership of onsite projects, including safety, quality, and performance, while adhering to Convergint Quality Standards.
- Suggest installation methods to improve profitability and quality.
- Learn and perform tasks of an Electrical Installer III to progress through the trade program.
- Provide feedback to the Job-Lead regarding project challenges and anticipate task timelines; act as the primary liaison to the Project Lead.
Requirements
- Experience installing and wiring access control, network cameras, door hardware, panel installation, and programming of door and camera additions.
- Solid construction skills and understanding of system plans, blueprints, design drawings, wiring methods, cut sheets, schematics, and cable support installation (J-Hook, Raceway, Conduit, Cable Support).
- Familiarity with blueprints, schematics, manuals, and specifications to determine installation procedures; may require assistance for complex specifications.
- Strong customer focus and ability to work under pressure while meeting customer needs.
- Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude, including proficiency with hand and power tools (e.g., drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper).
- Ability to read blueprints and drawings; solid math skills (e.g., calculating area, velocity, resistance, voltage).
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Provide basic hand tools required for daily tasks.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Qualifications
- Education: High School/GED or equivalent experience.
- Minimum Experience: 3-5 years in the electronic security industry.
- Previous construction experience, including some level of electrical or low-voltage background.
- Preferred (but not required): Relevant trade designation (e.g., Electrician), experience in electronic, fire alarm & life safety, or building automation industries.
- Preferred certifications: Experience with Axis, Bosch, DMP, Lenel, or Software House; Project Management Institute (PMI) or industry-specific certifications.
