About the role
The GE Appliances Edison Engineering Development Program (EEDP) is a 3-year entry-level rotational development program based in Louisville, KY. It focuses on developing software engineers in C and scripting languages like Lua and JavaScript.
Responsibilities
- Develop in C (production code) and scripting languages like Lua and JavaScript (tooling)
- Work in a resource-constrained environment with (generally) no heap, and primarily run bare metal but some projects use an RTOS
- Use the industry-leading version control system Git
- Work in an Agile environment
- Implement 100% unit tested code
- Participate in software team daily activities such as scoping work, identifying requirements, creating & refining designs, bench testing, and supporting Software Quality Assurance
- Be a “buddy” to and mentor software co-ops
Requirements
- Completion of a GE Appliances-sponsored Masters degree for those who do not already have one is required
- Completion of GE Appliances-specific and relevant technical coursework
- Rotate teams 4 to 6 times where each rotation is usually 6 months with one 1 year rotation
- Participate in software team daily activities such as scoping work, identifying requirements, creating & refining designs, implementing 100% unit tested code, bench testing, and supporting Software Quality Assurance
- Be a “buddy” to and mentor software co-ops

- Completed two or more co-op rotations/internships prior to graduation
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or better in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related Engineering Degree
- Cumulative GPA >= 3.0 (out of 4.0)
- Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States
