EDHS Counselor Education Academic & Clinical Practice Instructor (Faculty Wage)

The University of Virginia's School of Education seeks qualified applicants for the Department of Human Services to teach and provide content expertise for programs in Counselor Education for the 2026-2027 academic year and 2027 summer. Positions will be filled on an as-needed basis according to curriculum needs.

About the Role

This is an at-will faculty wage position that does not carry benefits. Opportunities may be available on-grounds at the University of Virginia and online. If no position is currently available, we will retain submitted applications on file for future consideration during the 2026-2027 academic year and 2027 summer.

Requirements

  • A terminal degree is preferred, but not required, in an appropriate field of study for the course to be taught.
  • Previous K-12 or higher education teaching experience in the course content area is strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to travel to and from work location, other UVA or UVA Health facilities, or to other locations in the U.S. or abroad for meetings or research.
  • Must be able to use computers, specialized equipment, and other technologies.
  • Must be able to remain stationary, move, bend, lift, and reach.
  • Must be able to perform procedures using fine motor skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, in writing, in person, in the classroom, online, and in clinical settings.
  • Must be able to interact with others such as colleagues, other academic and medical peers, students, patients, and the public.

Qualifications

Wage Faculty (Adjunct) may only be paid via Period Activity Pay.

Positions are typically for teaching a single course and are filled on an as-needed basis according to curriculum needs.
