About the Role
Multi-skilled caregiver working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department.
Responsibilities
- Provides age-appropriate patient care including vital signs, 12-lead EKG, bedside blood sugar testing, superficial wound care, oral suctioning, splint application, and patient instruction.
- Performs aseptic procedures such as catheterization, sterile tray prep, dressing changes, and phlebotomy.
- Operates cardiac monitors, pulse oximetry, and specialty equipment.
- Transports patients, supplies, equipment, and medications.
- Monitors patients in restraint/seclusion, documents observations, and responds to remote telesitter escalations.
- Ensures patient care areas are stocked and safe.
- Recognizes arrhythmias and communicates findings.
- Maintains equipment and monitors.
- Performs environmental safety checks and troubleshooting.
- Collaborates with staff to ensure quality patient care.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire.
- Effective communication and computer proficiency.
- Teamwork and basic vital sign skills.
