Drug & Alcohol Prevention Specialist Trainee (Local Government) - Wayne County D&A
About the role
Located in Honesdale, PA, Wayne County Drug & Alcohol is seeking a part-time Prevention Specialist Trainee. This position offers excellent benefits and opportunities to gain hands-on experience in drug and alcohol prevention programs.
Responsibilities
- Implement Programs: Assist with implementing prevention and intervention programs for schools and communities under the supervision of senior staff
- Provide Training: Help plan and deliver educational programs, training sessions, and presentations for schools, parents, and community groups
- Keep Records: Maintain prevention records and enter program data into the state prevention management system
- Support Improvements: Assist with evaluating programs, preparing educational materials, and conducting needs assessments
- Conduct Outreach: After required training, may serve as a liaison for Student Assistance Program (SAP) meetings and provide school-based intervention support
- Continue Education: Complete all required Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP) trainings, maintain prevention-related training credits
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree; or any equivalent combination of experience and training
- Must meet the PA residency requirement
- Pass a background investigation
- Pass a drug screening
Benefits
Seasonal, part-time employment. Employee works during school year, occasionally during other times, as needed. Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Start time and hours depend on school schedule. Often irregular hours, including evenings. Employee may have overnight travel or out of County travel for meetings or training. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
