Wayne County Children & Youth Services in Honesdale, PA is seeking a compassionate and motivated individual to support children and families through parent education, nutrition, life skills, and other essential services.

Description of Work

• County Social Services Aide 1 works closely with caseworkers and other social service aides.
• Provides services in the home to families with children after a caseworker has visited and determined which services are needed.
• Teaches parenting skills to help create family routines, trust, and stability.
• Provides instruction on proper hygiene, nutrition, cooking and food shopping skills, and maintenance of the home.
• Helps families set up and follow a budget.
• Writes a report of each appointment with consumers.
• Attends court and testifies, if needed.
• Participates in meetings with other staff to develop treatment plans and set goals for consumers.
• Manages multiple tasks, meets strict deadlines, and pays close attention to details under a constantly changing work environment.
• Works may include providing childcare when necessary; assisting consumers with completing applications and forms; transporting consumers to supervised visitation and necessary appointments; and clerical office duties as needed.
• Full-time employment with work hours of 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
• Possible after-hours appointments for supervised visitation and transportation.
• Possible travel requiring overnight stays.
• No telework option.
• The starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
• PA residency requirement must be met.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements

• You must pass a background investigation.
• A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
• A conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
