Driver Apprentice - City

Position Overview This role involves operating tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and straight trucks, with a focus on developing driving skills through education. Non-driving duties include forklift operation, dock work, and freight handling. Key Responsibilities Operate tractor-trailer units and perform safety inspectionsHook/unhook trailers and handle freight using motorized and manual equipmentSecure freight, repair damaged goods, and complete documentationManage hazardous materials per regulations and communicate with dispatchProvide customer service, determine delivery needs, and generate sales leadsPerform additional tasks such as tire chaining and supporting road operations Qualifications & Skills Class A CDL or CLP, with acceptable Motor Vehicle RecordKnowledge of DOT regulations and basic math skillsAbility to lift and handle up to 100 pounds and perform physical tasksEffective communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team Working Conditions Driving in diverse weather and road conditions, exposure to noise, vibration, dust, diesel fumes, and hazardous materials. Flexibility in hours is required.
