Driver Apprentice - City

Position Overview: This role involves operating tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and straight trucks, with a focus on safety, freight handling, and customer service. Responsibilities Operate tractor-trailer units and perform safety inspectionsHook/unhook trailers and handle freight using forklifts, pallet jacks, and manual toolsSecure freight, verify documentation, and process freight chargesFollow hazardous material regulations and dispatch instructionsCommunicate with customers and identify additional business opportunitiesPerform related duties such as road driving, tire chaining, and freight handling when neededAdhere to all legal, safety, and company policies Qualifications & Skills Class A CDL or equivalent permit and acceptable Motor Vehicle RecordKnowledge of DOT regulations and basic math skillsAbility to lift up to 100 pounds, sit for extended periods, and perform physical tasksStrong communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team Working Conditions: Drive in various weather and road conditions, with exposure to noise, vibration, dust, diesel fumes, and hazardous materials. Flexibility in working hours is required.
