Driver Apprentice - City

This role involves operating tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and straight trucks, with a focus on developing driving skills through education and training. Key Responsibilities Include Performing pre-trip, post-trip, and safety inspections on equipmentHooking/unhooking trailers and converter dolliesHandling freight using motorized and manual equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacksSecuring freight inside trailers and repairing damaged cargo as neededCompleting documentation, verifying shipments, and managing freight chargesEnsuring compliance with hazardous material regulations and company policiesCommunicating with dispatch and customers regarding deliveries, pickups, and potential opportunitiesPerforming additional duties, including road driving and freight handling, as required Qualifications Include Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or learning permitAcceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and compliance with DOT regulationsBasic math, communication, and physical ability to lift heavy freight and trailer componentsAbility to work independently or as part of a team, follow instructions, and complete training Working conditions: driving in various weather and road conditions, exposure to noise, dust, diesel fumes, and hazardous materials, with variable hours based on operational needs.
