Driver Apprentice - City

Role Overview This position involves operating tractor-trailer combinations and performing related non-driving duties such as forklift operation and dock work. The role focuses on developing driving skills through education and hands-on experience. Key Responsibilities Operate tractor-trailer units, including doubles and straight trucksConduct safety inspections before, during, and after tripsHook and unhook trailers and convertor dolliesHandle freight using motorized and manual equipment like forklifts and pallet jacksSecure freight inside trailers and repair damaged goods when necessaryComplete documentation and reports, and handle freight chargesFollow hazardous material regulations and company proceduresCommunicate with dispatch and customers regarding deliveries and pickupsAssist with road driving and freight handling duties as neededPerform tire chaining and adhere to all safety and legal standardsPerform other related duties as required Qualifications & Skills Class A CDL or learner permit and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)Knowledge of DOT regulations and basic math skillsGood communication skills, ability to lift up to 100 pounds, and work independently or as part of a teamAbility to sit, bend, twist, and climb in and out of trucks Working Conditions Drive on various roads in all weather conditions, exposed to noise, vibration, dust, diesel fumes, and DOT-regulated hazardous materials. Flexibility in hours is required.
