The Director of Sales at Hotel Interurban will lead revenue growth, inspire high-performing teams, and shape the future of the sales organization. Reporting to the General Manager, this role requires a proven hospitality sales leader with strategic vision and exceptional leadership skills.

What you’ll do:
- Develop strategic revenue driving initiatives and build effective team structures.
- Prepare or provide oversight for annual planning including internal prework, group strategic plans, and departmental revenue and expense budgets.
- Create departmental objectives, team deployment strategies, production goals, and individual performance targets.
- Manage group yielding efforts with support from General Manager and Revenue Manager.
- Ensure accurate production of monthly reports.
- Manage group sales outreach, negotiations, contractual review, planning and service.
- Direct liaison to all community organizations, city officials, industry associations and public relations entities.
- Manage department standards and implement systems, including sales & event platform administration/management.
- Provide overall direction, coordination, and leadership for team members.
- Develop and maintain favorable working relationships and open communication with all departments.
- Lead monthly Director of Sales cohort meetings and provided support to individuals within the cohort group.
- Support with portfolio wide training initiatives, including the annual in-person sales event.
- Hire, develop, mentor, and train department team members to ensure comprehensive competency in all relevant areas and identifying growth potential.
- Implement corrective action and feedback, when necessary, in a respective and constructive manner.
- Implements reward programs.
- Achieve departmental goals and objectives.
- Engage in client relationship building, including new business development and networking.
- Skilled in client negotiations, closing techniques, and contractual language comprehension.
- Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships and open communication with all stakeholders.
What you’ll bring:
- Minimum of 8-10 years of hospitality sales experience, or similar environment.
- Extensive knowledge and expertise in sales and/or event management with extensive sales and negotiation skills.
- Prior experience with hotel conversions a plus.
- Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively and formulate strategic plans.
- Strong emotional intelligence and critical thinking capabilities.
- Ability to lead and influence managers and large teams, directly or indirectly, while placing a high priority on mentoring and developing others.
- Serves as a strategic partner to clients to build, grow, and maintain profitable and long-lasting relationships with key accounts.
- Takes an initiative-taking approach to address issues and avert conflict, resolve practical problems, and conflict resolution with limited standardized solutions.
- Promotes a sense of urgency and establishes and enforces individual accountability in the team.

- Working knowledge of applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
- Excellent communication skills, including proficiency in writing contracts, reports, business correspondence, and operations manuals, with the ability to present information effectively and respond to inquiries from team members, managers, clients, guests, or the public.

- Knowledge of hospitality sales platforms a plus.
- Proficiency in conducting client research, gathering relevant information, and staying updated on industry trends and developments.
- Proficiency in financial acumen understanding and creating various financial reports (P&L statement, PACE, budget) with knowledge of dynamic pricing and profitability.
- Exceptional presentation skills ability to clearly effectively deliver to a variety of stakeholders; owners, leaders, clients, and team members.
- Ability to travel (including air or car, hotel overnight stays, and client entertainment).
