Responsibilities

• Serve as the local chief executive agent.
• Lead the local provider(s) in delivering high-quality care to the community and contribute to the overall success of the company.
• Ensure the execution of daily operations.
• Manage ongoing operations, services, personnel performance, and office management.

Qualifications

• Must be a licensed physician, registered nurse, or possess a bachelor’s degree.
• Must have demonstrated experience in health service administration with at least one year in a supervisory or administrative capacity.
• Must not have been employed in the last year as an administrator with another operation at the time any enforcement action was taken against the business (see company compliance policies).
• Must have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of federal, state, and local laws and regulatory guidelines governing home care operations.
• Must have intermediate technology skills, including operation of a mobile device.

Preferred Education and Experience

• A licensed physician, registered nurse, licensed social worker, licensed therapist, or a licensed nursing home administrator with at least one year of management and supervisory experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Previous experience in a home health care or hospice program is preferred.

State-Specific Requirements

• Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, Washington, Wyoming: No additional state-specified education or experience requirements.
• Colorado: Must comply with state regulation 6CCR 1011-1 (7.6), requiring 24 hours of training in the first 12 months if a first-time administrator (8 hours within the first month). Must complete a minimum of 12 clock hours per year at a health administration seminar or through an approved provider.
• Connecticut:
  • Master’s degree in nursing with an active license and at least one year of supervisory or administrative experience in a health care facility; or
  • Master’s degree in public health or administration (health services concentration) and at least one year of supervisory or administrative experience in a health care facility; or
  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing with an active license and at least two years of supervisory or administrative experience in a health care facility; or
  • Baccalaureate degree in administration (health services concentration) and at least two years of supervisory or administrative experience in a health care facility; or
  • Physician licensed to practice medicine in Connecticut with at least one year of supervisory or administrative experience in a health care facility; or
  • Employed as an administrator in Connecticut as of January 1, 1981, with continuous employment for the five years preceding that date (additional requirements apply after January 1, 1986).
  Must be administrator for only one agency.
• Delaware: Must have a bachelor’s degree with five years of home health care experience and one year of supervisory experience; or be a registered nurse with five years of health care experience and one year of supervisory experience.
• Florida: Must be administrator for only one agency; or manage up to five agencies within one geographic service area or immediate contiguous counties with identical controlling interest.
• Illinois: Must have at least one year of supervisory or administrative experience in home health care or a related health provider program; or meet requirements for a public health administrator.
• Kansas: Administrator must reside within the service area of the provider.
• Louisiana: Must have three years of management experience in health care service delivery.
• Maryland: Must possess education in health services or administration (e.g., physician, registered nurse, or bachelor’s degree in a health-related field) and at least one year of supervisory experience in hospital, home health, or public health program management.
• Oklahoma: Must possess an Oklahoma administrator license and complete 12 continuing education units per year.
• Texas: Must comply with state regulation 97.259 a-g, requiring 24 hours of training in the first 12 months if a first-time administrator. Must complete a minimum of 12 clock hours per year at a health administration seminar or through an approved provider.

Requirements

• Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
• Must maintain automobile liability insurance as required by law.
• Must maintain dependable transportation in good working condition.
• Must be able to safely drive an automobile in all types of weather conditions.
