About the role

The Director of HR will lead and scale the HR function across three distinct branches: the San Francisco corporate headquarters, the South SF Fulfillment Center, and the distributed stylist network. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role requires a strategic, hands-on approach to manage HR systems, performance, and cultural alignment.

Responsibilities

  • Be a thought partner to the CEO and leadership team on organizational design, workforce planning, and talent development.

  • Build data-driven performance management, growth frameworks, and compensation benchmarking to retain top talent.

  • Standardize HR workflows that keep corporate teams aligned and moving quickly.

  • Oversee HR for the fulfillment team, including overseeing labor and capacity planning, regular floor presence, and employee relations.

  • Evolve HR systems and processes for the distributed stylist network, focusing on retention and engagement.

Requirements

  • A track record heading up HR for an hourly, distributed, or multi-site workforce.

  • Retail, logistics, fulfillment, hospitality, or marketplace backgrounds are beneficial.

  • 8+ years of experience in HR.

  • Experience managing across diverse, multi-location setups (e.g., logistics/fulfillment environments).

  • Deep, current knowledge of California employment law, especially as it applies to hourly, onsite, and operational teams.

  • Proven experience managing, developing, and holding HR team members accountable.

  • Bilingual (English & Spanish) is a plus.

  • Systems thinker with a focus on repeatability and process-driven solutions.

  • Obsession with detail and quality in all aspects of HR management.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of California employment laws.

  • Experience managing a multi-site or multi-location workforce.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to navigate complex HR issues with empathy and professionalism.

$180K - $210K

Schedule

This role is 100% onsite, based at the South SF warehouse and the San Francisco HQ (about 20 minutes apart).
