About the role
The Director of Capture Management - Space Warfighting leads strategic capture efforts across the Space Warfighting mission area, including opportunities with U.S. Space Force, Space Systems Command, NRO, USSPACECOM, STARCOM, SAF/SQ, SMDC, and related customers. This role involves identifying, qualifying, and shaping new business opportunities aligned with Astrion's customer access, past performance, differentiated capabilities, and growth priorities.
Responsibilities
- Lead strategic capture efforts across the Space Warfighting mission area, including opportunities with U.S. Space Force, SSC, CFC, STARCOM, NRO, USSPACECOM, SAF/SQ, SMDC, and related customers.
- Identify, qualify, and shape new business opportunities aligned to Astrion customer access, past performance, differentiated capabilities, and growth priorities.
- Develop and execute capture strategies for mission areas such as space control, electromagnetic warfare, space sensing, SDA, mission integration, cyber-resilient ground systems, operational test, training, and sustainment.
- Build customer engagement plans that deepen Astrion understanding of mission needs, acquisition timelines, funding priorities, decision makers, and pain points.
- Translate customer needs into clear win themes, solution discriminators, teaming strategies, pricing considerations, and pursuit priorities.
- Use market intelligence, acquisition data, customer insights, and competitive analysis to prioritize opportunities and inform bid, no-bid, prime, sub, and teaming decisions.
- Shape differentiated solutions by collaborating with technical SMEs in mission engineering, battlespace management command and control (BMC2), software, cyber, T&E, space / ground hardware, etc.
- Build and maintain capture plans that include customer engagement, competitive assessment, solution development, pricing strategy, teaming, risk management, and gate-review readiness.
- Develop teaming and partner strategies with primes, OEMs, nontraditional technology firms, and specialized mission partners to strengthen Astrion's position to win.
- Prepare leadership briefings, gate reviews, investment recommendations, and pursuit health assessments that are realistic, data-driven, and tied to customer mission outcomes.
- Track capture performance through meaningful KPIs, including qualification quality, customer engagement progress, solution maturity, teaming status, P-Win movement, and gate readiness.
- Represent Astrion in customer meetings, industry engagements, technical exchanges, and partner discussions with a clear point of view on the Space Warfighting mission.
Requirements
Required qualifications/skills include:
- Minimum of 20+ years of capture management, business development, program management, military space operations, defense acquisition, or related national security growth experience.
- Proven record personally leading and winning complex federal captures in the defense, intelligence, national security space, or mission-critical technical services market.
- Demonstrated experience in Space Warfighting or adjacent mission areas, including several of the following: space control, space domain awareness, missile warning and tracking, OPIR, electromagnetic warfare, orbital warfare, mission C2/BMC2, ground systems, cyber resilience, operational test, wargaming, training, or mission operations support.
- Strong familiarity with U.S. Space Force, SSC, CFC, STARCOM, NRO, USSPACECOM, SAF/SQ, SMDC, or related customers, including acquisition rhythms, mission priorities, customer pain points, and the industry ecosystem.
- Experience shaping and capturing SETA, SE&I, test and evaluation, software, cyber, mission operations, space operations support, or integrated solution opportunities.
- Working knowledge of FAR/DFARS, IDIQs, task orders, GWACs, OTAs, CSOs, rapid prototyping pathways, recompetes, price-to-win, and probability-of-win methods.
- Demonstrated ability to apply market intelligence, competitive analysis, GovWin, FPDS, SAM.gov, CRM systems, AI, and data analytics to prioritize opportunities and improve capture management outcomes.
Qualifications
Education requirements include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, National Security, Space Systems, Public Policy, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
Skills & Competencies
Preferred qualifications/skills include:
- Prior experience supporting or capturing work for U.S. Space Force, Space Systems Command, NRO, USSPACECOM, STARCOM, SAF/SQ, CFC, SMDC, or related national security space organizations.
- Experience with space control, electronic warfare, space domain awareness, missile warning and tracking, ground systems, space operations, cyber, operational test, mission software, or warfighter training.
- Experience developing solution-led captures involving AI-enabled software, mission engineering, cyber assurance, modeling and simulation, wargaming, digital engineering, test automation, or mission integration.
- Prior military, government civilian, or industry experience in space operations, acquisition, intelligence, cyber, EW, missile warning, or command-and-control roles.
- Experience using OTAs, CSOs, SpEC, ONIX, or other rapid acquisition mechanisms to shape and capture technology-forward opportunities.
- Existing relationships with space primes, OEMs, nontraditional technology companies, new-space firms, or specialized mission partners.
- Experience moving a business from labor-centric pursuits toward integrated, outcome-based, solution-led growth.
