Director of Business Development
About the role
The Director of Business Development is a hands-on senior leadership role at Matrix Design Group, Inc., combining strategic vision with day-to-day operational execution. This role oversees the proposal team and manages campaigns across all 13 business units, working closely with the Chief Strategy Officer, Director of Marketing and Communications, and senior leadership to translate corporate goals into actionable marketing initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Determine sales objectives to meet firmwide goals
- Manage CRM system to capture client data and track business development activity
- Work with technical staff to develop proposals and scopes of work and estimate fees
- Develop business development model and strategy
- Direct or develop training of employee's firm-wide, including marketing and business development staff, as well as seller-doers
- Maintain a visibility in professional and community organizations
- Represent the firm at the highest level to clients, peer organizations, and business associates
- Create and execute a winning strategy for all key chases; ensure teams have identified the appropriate benefits and differentiators
- Research and analyze market trends, emerging geographies, target sectors, and prospective clients to identify and prioritize strategic growth opportunities
- Travel, as needed
Requirements
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive business development experience, including team leadership
- Experience in professional services marketing, with AEC or related industry experience strongly preferred
- Strategic and execution-focused, capable of balancing multiple priorities, mentoring staff, managing cross-functional stakeholders and vendors, and maintaining high-quality standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field; advanced degree a plus

Pay
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The expected salary range for this position is displayed in accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act.
