Responsibilities

  • Provides vision, forward thinking, and strategic leadership in a proactive manner while supporting the organization’s mission, values, and long-term strategic direction.
  • Collaborates daily with Microbiology, Employee Health, Facilities/Construction, Environmental Services, Sterile Processing, and Regulatory Readiness to ensure alignment and accountability.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates the organizational infection prevention program.
  • Conducts an annual risk assessment and develops annual Infection Prevention plan based on population(s) served, services provided, and analysis of surveillance data.
  • Develops initiatives and interventions to successfully achieve Onvida Health Board Quality and Patient Safety goals.
  • Analyzes and identifies any trends in infection prevention data and reports in an appropriate timeframe.
  • Develops and provides timely, actionable feedback and reports to clinical, administrative and support staff on all Infection Prevention initiatives.
  • Evaluates and manages investigations of infection related outbreaks, implements appropriate control measures and monitors effectiveness of control measures.
  • Assists in the development of annual Board Quality and Patient Safety goals, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement.
  • Translates evidence-based guidelines into practical policy, education, and practice change.
  • Utilizes PI methodology and High Reliability principles as a means of enacting change.
  • Defines the scope of the project and selects appropriate PI tools to aid in efficiency, reliability, effectiveness and ensure sustainability of the initiative.
  • Ensures that customer needs and expectations are considered in the development of and continuous improvement of processes, products, and services.
  • Maintains regulatory compliance and survey readiness.
  • Aligns antimicrobial stewardship with Pharmacy and Laboratory using the antibiogram and surveillance data to address resistance.
  • Demonstrates use of appropriate methodologies to identify improvement opportunities and use of rapid cycle improvement tools (i.e. PDSA, FMEA, reliability science, bundle science, process flows).

Qualifications

  • Masters Degree
  • 5+ years of experience of progressive infection control, infectious disease or epidemiology experience
  • 5+ years supervisory, teaching and/or administrative experience
  • 3+ years of Infection Control & Prevention experience in acute care
  • 1+ year of leadership experience
  • Proficient in DNV, CMS, AZ Dept Public Health and other regulatory agency rule/regulations, hospital policies and standards
  • RN AZ or compound License Certificate in Infection Control (CIC)
