About the role
This role is instrumental in coordinating and providing oversight to the infection prevention program at Norton Healthcare in accordance with regulatory requirements and evidence-based practice. The position builds effective relationships with the interdisciplinary team and leadership to facilitate the integration of performance improvement into the work environment, promoting a culture of patient safety, proactive risk management, and regulatory readiness.
Responsibilities
- Provide annual performance evaluations for direct reports and feedback to system leaders regarding the performance of members within the Improvement Network.
- Manage staff for direct reports, including evaluating annual employee engagement results and developing action plans to address workforce concerns.
- Ensure optimal deployment of resources, including workforce, to achieve desired outcomes.
- Assist with problem-solving, just-in-time advising, coaching, and education for medical staff and clinical colleagues to facilitate compliance.
- Co-chair the Employee Health and Infection Prevention Matrix with the Director of Employee Health.
- Plan, direct, guide, and support hospital functions to uphold Infection Prevention standards.
- Facilitate the achievement and maintenance of clinical targets for the infection prevention program.
- Demonstrate thought leadership and execute innovative programs to improve the quality of care related to infection prevention.
- Develop relevant programming to support current and new initiatives.
- Perform concurrent reviews of key clinical quality and patient safety indicators, identifying and addressing problems with clinical caregivers.
- Collaborate with other leaders to establish Quality and Safety Goals aligned with Norton Healthcare’s mission and vision.
- Maintain and obtain knowledge independently, basing decisions on clinical practice guidelines, trends, research, data, and regulatory standards.
- Coordinate and integrate federal, state, and local standards into the Infection Prevention program by developing and implementing policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Lead process improvement initiatives to monitor, evaluate, and enhance infection prevention practices, ensuring high-quality care and value for patients.
- Use quality assessment results to improve processes affecting patient care outcomes.
- Identify work-related problems, propose solutions, and implement appropriate actions.
- Mentor and coach key change leaders, facilitating the sharing of diverse viewpoints while respecting differing perspectives.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Three years of leadership experience.
- Three years of relevant clinical experience in an acute care setting.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
- Certification in Infection Prevention and Control.
- Desired:
- Five years of relevant clinical experience in an acute care setting.
- Master’s Degree.
- Six Sigma Certification.
