Director, Corporate EHS

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain compliance with applicable federal and state EHS regulations; ensure uniform application of the company’s EHS programs.
• Assist in evaluations of risk and implementation of related programs to prevent injury, illness, and ensure environmental compliance.
• Partner with operations to develop effective and innovative solutions for a safe and environmentally sound workplace.
• Assist in developing and implementing corporate EHS policy, programs, and training materials; participate in corporate training and business meetings as appropriate.
• Ensure facilities are prepared for corporate and external audits (SIPS, EMS, ISO, etc.) and close out open audit findings timely; lead and serve on corporate audit teams as assigned.
• Coordinate procedures and protocols for effective case management; assist operations managing workers’ compensation claims and mitigating costs.
• Lead Senior Regional Managers driving EHS into operations while supporting a positive employee experience through leadership, development, and coaching.
• Supervise EHS Senior Regional Managers (part of corporate EHS team) who provide direct support to operational EHS teams and leadership.
• Physical demands may include frequent bending, moving, lifting, and carrying materials up to 50 pounds (up to 70 pounds in more physically demanding roles); standing up to eight hours daily during site visits or meetings; work in various weather conditions and uneven terrain as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in environmental, safety, health or related field.
• 10+ years of related experience.
• Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in a position of leadership including team development and management.
• Ability to make strategic decisions while in stressful situations, including leading emergency response efforts.
• Energized by collaboration through travel to other locations approximately 50% of the time depending on initiative.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables with focus and efficiency.
• Able to interpret, design, and communicate key EHS data to internal stakeholders and to actionize EHS to drive results.
• Ability to make strategic decisions and plan and execute EHS systems and programs with operations.

Skills

• Excellent knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations, and workers’ compensation processes.
• PSM/RMP experience a plus.
• Bilingual skills a plus (preferred but not required).
• Strong oral and written communication skills for drafting reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
• Effective presentation skills and ability to respond to questions from a diverse audience.
• Detail oriented.
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office and EHS database systems such as Cority.
• Experience with EHS databases (Cority, etc.), safety and environmental risk mitigation, EHS program development, EHS audits, Ergo/Fit for Work, EHS technologies, SDS approval systems, EHS rules tracking, fire system liaison, work comp liaison, EHS training liaison, and EHS alerts.

Pay

The expected pay range for this position is $140,000 - $182,500 annually.
