About the Role
Reporting to the Assistant General Manager, the Facilities Director is responsible for the successful overall direction, administration and coordination of all activities of the Facilities Department, IT Department and Special Projects as designated by the General Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop innovative and cost effective solutions which focus on driving efficiencies, improving guest experience, increasing employee productivity and growing revenues
- Oversee the plan, management and execution of facility operations
- Drive continuous improvement at property, seeking to leverage corporate standards or bringing up new ideas for review e.g. project development, consolidation, virtualization etc.
- Drive vendor management and seek opportunities for cost reduction at property
- Lead the development of IT/Facility plans, technical strategies, business continuity/disaster recovery and budget plans as they relate to the property
- Maintain the integrity of the facility including major mechanical systems, fire & life-safety equipment, grounds, parking, lighting systems, plumbing, kitchen equipment, electrical, controls and any other systems and equipment comprising the physical structure and appurtenant infrastructure
- Manage Facilities Department staff, including skilled trades (e.g. electricians, plumbers, carpenters, etc.) to maintain the property in a manner that ensures an optimal guest experience and long-term asset preservation
- Manage utility expenses and lead initiatives to maintain lowest possible costs through improved operational efficiencies and deployment of new technologies
- Develop work scope, solicit bids, select contractors and oversee all 3rd party contractors engaged in operations and/or maintenance activities at the facility
- Lead all strategies and initiatives for the casino's Facilities Department
- Lead and/or support construction, renovation and preventative maintenance efforts
- Establish a budget for expenses (both operating and capital) and operate within those guidelines
- Develop processes to ensure internal work orders are completed promptly and accurately
- Create initiatives to improve the employee experience and employee opinion ratings
- Set performance expectations and provide coaching, career development planning and operational support for all direct reports
- Monitor all engineering and maintenance activities to ensure all applicable laws, rules, regulations and controls are adhered to and enforced
- Maintain the Fire Emergency Organization Manual, and ensure that entire Facilities Team is trained in its implementation
- Ensure implementation and audit of inventory and cost control systems and procedures
- Apply Lean principles/techniques (i.e. applies countermeasures for waste, conducts daily visual mgt. and supports kaizen events) to ensure quality and customer service is continuously improved in the context of facility operations
- Develop a strong working relationship with all department managers to ensure unity and consistent direction
- Consistently demonstrate legendary leadership, influence, drive, innovation and commercial awareness
- Establish and endorse the business objectives, ethics and values of the Company in accordance with the Code of Commitment and Service Profit Chain
Education and Experience
A minimum eight years in supervisory/managerial experience in IT, engineering, facility management or a related area. Extensive experience in business analysis, business process improvement, technology insertion management and operational support, planning and budgeting required.

- Must be able to work varied shifts, weekends and holidays as needed
- Ability to uphold and demonstrate the highest level of integrity in all situations and recognize standards required by a regulated business
