About the Role
Activate is seeking a Digital Marketing Manager to lead our digital marketing strategy, aligning our agency, creative team, and internal stakeholders. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role oversees paid search, SEO, social media, website content, and email marketing. Success is measured by generating more qualified, biddable opportunities for Activate. This is a management role requiring prioritization, partner management, performance analysis, and timely execution.
Responsibilities
Agency Leadership
- Manage Activate's digital marketing agency, including priorities, budgets, timelines, deliverables, and accountability.
- Translate business goals, sales priorities, and lead-quality feedback into clear strategic direction.
- Evaluate agency performance based on qualified leads, pipeline contribution, and business outcomes—not just impressions or clicks.
- Provide regular reporting and strategic recommendations to the Chief Operating Officer.
Paid Search & Lead Generation
- Oversee Google Ads strategy, budgets, targeting, messaging, landing pages, and conversion tracking.
- Monitor campaign performance, including cost per lead, cost per qualified lead, conversion rates, and lead quality.
- Partner with Sales and Leadership to refine campaigns based on business development results.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
- Lead keyword strategy, technical SEO, service-page optimization, and organic content planning.
- Improve search visibility for core services: Brand Activations, Mobile Tours, Live Events, and PR Kits.
- Use search performance data to prioritize website improvements and future content.
Social Media Management
- Manage LinkedIn and Instagram content calendars and publishing schedules.
- Partner with the Creative team to develop project recaps, thought leadership, company news, and behind-the-scenes content.
- Ensure content is developed, approved, and published on schedule.
- Drive engagement with clients, prospects, employees, and industry partners.
- Review performance data to improve future content.
Website Strategy & Content
- Manage development of case studies, landing pages, service pages, blog content, and website updates.
- Coordinate the agency and Creative team through strategy, copywriting, design, approvals, and launch.
- Keep the website current, on-brand, search-friendly, and conversion-focused.
- Identify new content needs based on sales priorities, search performance, and evolving capabilities.
Email Marketing
- Manage Activate's newsletter calendar, content, production, and distribution.
- Coordinate with the Creative team to produce clear, visually strong emails.
- Track engagement, website traffic, conversions, and audience growth.
- Use results to improve topics, timing, format, and calls to action.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in digital marketing, performance marketing, or integrated marketing.
- Experience managing Google Ads and evaluating lead-generation performance.
- Experience managing digital marketing agencies or external partners.
- Working knowledge of SEO, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, conversion tracking, website content management, email marketing, and social media platforms.
- Strong writing, analytical, and project management skills.
- Ability to interpret marketing data and translate insights into business decisions.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable holding internal teams and external partners accountable for results.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software (Asana experience preferred).
- Experience in B2B marketing, experiential marketing, agency environments, or high-consideration sales industries strongly preferred.
