Deputy Division Director (State Administrative Manager 15)
About the role
The Deputy Director of the Unclaimed Property Division serves as a key leader within the Michigan Department of Treasury, focusing on programmatic and administrative functions. This role involves reviewing, updating policies, and procedures, representing the division externally and internally, and overseeing financial empowerment programs.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Division Director in overall programmatic and administrative functions.
- Review, update policies, procedures, and plans for operational functions.
- Represent the Division Director in external and internal outreach efforts.
- Coordinate, plan, and oversee financial empowerment programs and initiatives.
- Direct the functions of Unclaimed Property staff, setting work priorities, monitoring accountability, and productivity.
- Aid the Director in ensuring compliance with department and statewide policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Make policy recommendations to the State Bureau Administrator for Saving, Access, and Financial Empowerment and Deputy State Treasurer for Financial and Administrative Services.
Requirements
This position requires a bachelor's degree and four years of professional experience, including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level. Professional experience includes safety and regulatory or law enforcement experience at the 14 level or 15 level, which may be substituted for the education and experience requirements.
Qualifications
Qualifying qualifications include possession of a bachelor's degree in any major and four years of professional experience, including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level. Alternately, a combination of a high school diploma and two years of safety and regulatory or law enforcement experience at the 14 level or one year at the 15 level may be substituted for the education and experience requirements.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $80,000 to $120,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
This position offers a flexible/hybrid work schedule, allowing for remote work on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and working onsite on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The selected candidate must have a secure, safe, and appropriate workspace that allows privacy and prevents distractions.
