About the County
The County of San Mateo is seeking a highly qualified Deputy Director of Public Works to lead its Engineering and Resource Protection division.
Responsibilities
- Manage the planning, design, and delivery of public infrastructure projects such as roadways, retaining walls, drainage, sewer, and water systems.
- Oversee multiple capital projects or engineering initiatives with competing priorities and deadlines.
- Prioritize work, allocate resources, monitor progress, and ensure projects are delivered on schedule while maintaining quality and meeting stakeholder expectations.
- Lead or contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Requirements
- Professional experience and technical qualifications relevant to managing public infrastructure projects.
- Experience identifying inefficiencies, implementing process improvements, and achieving measurable results.
- Ability to address challenges in project delivery and resource allocation.
Application Details
The examination process will consist of an Application Screening and a panel interview. Applicants must successfully pass the Application Screening to advance. All examinations will be held in County of San Mateo, California, and applicants must participate at their own expense.
