Departmental Analyst Trainee 9-P11; E-file
About the Role
Join Treasury’s Forms, Documentation & E-file Services as an E-file Fiduciary Income Tax Analyst. This fast-paced role involves development, testing, reports, manuals, and publications for a variety of e-file customers. You will collaborate closely with software companies to test their e-file products, ensure compliance with Treasury and National guidelines, provide excellent customer service, and build strong customer relationships.
Responsibilities
- Test e-file products supported within software programs.
- Ensure adherence to Treasury and National guidelines.
- Develop, test, and maintain reports, manuals, and publications for e-file customers.
- Collect, analyze, and organize data.
- Communicate effectively with the public and maintain favorable public relations.
- Write and edit documents and manuals related to Michigan Fiduciary and/or Individual Income Taxes.
Requirements
- Technical working knowledge of Michigan Fiduciary and/or Individual Income Taxes.
- Ability to write and edit documents and manuals.
- Experience collecting, analyzing, and organizing data.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
Qualifications
Education for Departmental Analyst 9-P11
- Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
Experience for Departmental Analyst 9-P11
Qualifying "professional experience" is only considered post bachelor's degree.
- Departmental Analyst 9: No specific type or amount of professional experience is required.
- Departmental Analyst 10: One year of professional experience.
- Departmental Analyst P11: Two years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate (10) level in state service.
Education and Experience for Departmental Analyst (Departmental Trainee) 9 (Classified State of Michigan Employees Only)
- Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
- Four years of experience as an advanced 9-level worker in an ECP Group One classification.
- OR three years of experience as an E9, E10, or E11-level worker in an ECP Group One classification.
- OR two years of experience as an experienced level worker in an ECP Group One technician or paraprofessional classification.
- OR two years of experience as a first-line supervisor in an ECP Group Three classification.
- OR one year of experience as a second-line supervisor in an ECP Group Three classification.
Paraprofessional classifications require an associate's degree or two years of college. College credits may substitute for up to one half of the required experience (one year of college education substitutes for one quarter of the required experience).
Alternate Education and Experience
- Completion of high school and at least two years of full-time active-duty experience at or above the E-6 level in the uniformed services may substitute for the education requirement.
Applicants with military service should provide their DD214 or other official military documentation to identify transferable skills and experience.

Schedule
- Hybrid remote work: Eligible to work remotely on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays; must work onsite Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
- Remote work requires a secure, private workspace with sufficient internet access (minimum speeds of 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload).
- Remote work arrangements are subject to management approval and may be adjusted or discontinued.
- Remote work is not available for residents outside the State of Michigan.
Additional Requirements
