About the role

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is dedicated to promoting a healthy, safe, and stable environment for residents through various opportunities, services, and programs. As an entry-level analyst in the crime victim compensation program, this position involves conducting investigations of submitted documentation, providing financial assistance to victims of crime, and reporting to the Crime Victim Services Commission.

Responsibilities

  • Adjudicate claims by reviewing claim applications, police reports, medical records, employment verification, medical billings, insurance benefit statements, and other documents.
  • Maintain contact with the victim and claimant to keep them updated on the status of their claim.
  • Draft written recommendations to either award or deny claims based on the provided documentation, legislative statute, and information gathered during the investigation.
  • Develop and introduce recommendations of procedural changes that have policy implications to the program director and commission members.

Qualifications

Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree in any major. Experience: Departmental Analyst 9 - No specific type or amount required. Departmental Analyst 10 - One year of professional experience. Departmental Analyst P11 - Two years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate (10) level in state service.

Skills

Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with criminal justice systems are preferred.

Pay

Salary range for Departmental Analyst 9 is $46,875 - $57,344 annually. Salary for Departmental Analyst 10 is $57,344 - $70,430 annually. Salary for Departmental Analyst P11 is $70,430 - $85,525 annually.

Schedule

The position is full-time and works standard business hours. Remote employees must work within Michigan.
