Department Technician 7-E9 (Specialty Trades Technician)
About the role
This position functions as a departmental technician for the Specialty Trades Section administered under various regulatory acts. The position conducts document compliance, processes permit applications, provides technical guidance, assists callers with inquiries, and fulfills administrative tasks.
Responsibilities
- Conducts document compliance and processes permit applications for applicants.
- Provides technical guidance to external users on boiler, elevator, and ski and amusement code requirements.
- Assists callers with general inquiries, case-specific problems, and concerns.
- Determines eligibility for inspections and responds to complaints and customer inquiries.
- Fulfills Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.
- Performs administrative tasks to update customer information and provides forms, invoices, and violation notices and explanations.
- Responds to inquiries about rules, codes, and policies.
- Provides backup support to other functional areas.
Requirements
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience:
- Departmental Technician 7: One year of experience performing administrative support activities.
- Departmental Technician 8: One year of experience performing administrative support activities.
- Departmental Technician E9: One year of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities or two years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate level in state service.
Qualifications
- Alternate Education and Experience:
- Departmental Technician 7: Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits).
- Departmental Technician 8: Possession of a Bachelor’s degree.
- Departmental Technician E9: Possession of a Bachelor’s degree and one year of job-related experience.
