About the role

The Department Manager - DC is responsible for managing and supporting assigned team members to achieve business and operational objectives in safety, accuracy, production, and inventory control in the Distribution Center (DC).

Responsibilities

  • Establishes and executes plans to meet operational and organizational objectives.
  • Ensures team members follow standard operating procedures and guidelines for internal and regulatory compliance.
  • Identifies and resolves production and communication issues impacting operational success.
  • Implements and executes processes ensuring accurate inventory processing and delivery to customers.
  • Affirms all team members' safety and addresses any behaviors or conditions increasing safety risks.
  • Partners with the Loss Prevention Team and DC and network leaders to address safety or security concerns.
  • Conducts safety training and provides necessary tools and personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure compliance with safety and physical security guidelines.
  • Interviews, onboards, and trains new team members.
  • Provides tools and resources for individuals and the team to achieve performance objectives and business goals.
  • Responsible for the growth and development of all direct reports.
  • Builds a positive culture and environment prioritizing engagement, recognition, open communication, respect, and trust.
  • Addresses performance, attendance, behavior, and conduct issues promptly through coaching, documentation, and corrective action as needed in partnership with Human Resources and senior leadership.
  • Uses logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions and make effective decisions or recommendations.
  • Maintains strong interpersonal skills, communicates professionally, maintains confidentiality, and sustains a respectful workplace.
  • Manages time effectively, balancing "on the floor" presence and office time.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Must be open/able to work all shifts, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred college degree.
  • Any related training/education is a plus.
  • Demonstrates computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and WMS applications.
  • Experience with labor management systems (LMS) is preferred.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good problem-solving and change management skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including all days and shifts in support of business needs or special projects.
