Dental Assistant I, II, or III
Position Summary
On-call Dental Assistant position available for Sea Mar's Tacoma - Cushman Dental Clinic. Candidate will assist the dental provider in the delivery of dental procedures allowed by the WA State Dental Practice Act. Other responsibilities include assisting in Restorative, Prosthodontics, Endodontics, Orthodontics, Oral Surgery procedures, and any other procedures allowed by the WA Dental Practice Act. Major duties include maintaining proper records for material safety data sheets (MSDS), spore test, inventory of dental supplies, assisting in training new Dental Assistants, and organizing schedules to generate check lists for maintenance of dental procedures.
Qualifications and/or Experience
- Bilingual in Spanish highly preferred
- Valid WA State license
- Basic life support (BLS) certification
- Organizational skills
- Dental record experience
- Familiarity with the utilization of computers
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to communicate, read, and write in English
- Able to interpret common written material about dentistry
- Prior ortho experience preferred for Dental Assistant II and III positions
- Completed formal Dental Assistant program at a College, Technical Institute, or equivalent for Dental Assistant II
- Minimum 6 months of work experience for Dental Assistant II
- Minimum 18 months of work experience for Dental Assistant III
- Knowledgeable of proper sterilization methods and OSHA regulations including QI for Dental Assistant III
- Able to duplicate and mount radiographs, place temporary restorations, take impressions, pour and trim models, place retraction cord, place matrix bands, perform coronal polish, and give fluoride treatments for Dental Assistant III
- Minimum 2 years of working experience for Dental Assistant III
- Minimum 3 years of experience working in a Dental Assistant position for Dental Assistant III
